High Demand for Training in Editing and Drone Cinematography — DJI Arizona and Prime Cinematography Announce Local Custom Workshops in Response
PHOENIX, ARIZONA – In answer to constant requests for local training in film editing, drone training, and cinematography techniques, Christophe Tinard (Hire Story and Prime Cinematography) and Ali Ahmed (DJI Arizona and Innovative UAS) respond with a specialized series of local weekend workshops. This summer, a film editing workshop called “Inside the Cutting Room” debuts July 13-14, 2019 on Grand Canyon University campus. The content is custom created to help amateurs, hobbyists, and experienced cinematographers alike. “You can have great shots but unless you know how to pull them together through editing, you’ll never have the finished film you’re imagining in your mind. We want to give people as many pro tips and tricks as well as some of the psychology behind how movement, lighting, and music have the power to control the audience’s experience,” says Christophe Tinard, workshop curriculum designer and teacher.
Ali and Christophe stumbled into a partnership as they experience a high volume of requests for training. “Our love for the Art of Cinematography and passion for sharing with fellow enthusiasts has grown into a diverse training series including all areas of cinematography: aerial, lighting, interviewing, gimbal, editing, Part 107 licensing and more. We believe in learning from doing (hands-on experiences built-in) and diving deeper than mere techniques into what and how images communicate with your audience,” Christophe explains on the subject of how these workshops developed. “We’ve spent a year testing and fine-tuning the experience and curriculum. Our material changes your relationship with your filming gear and shows how to get the most out of what you capture.”
This year, Christophe and Ali launched “Flying with Cameras” for hands-on drone cinematography, “Moving with Cameras” for using movement tools like gimbals, and “Inside the Cutting Room” for interactive practice with effects and techniques. “When you have someone who is in the industry, who knows what to do, how to do it — they’ve been doing it for a long time — and they’re sharing their history and their experience, it’s a pretty powerful tool,” says Ethan Middleton of DJI Arizona and Innovative UAS.
A unique feature of the upcoming “Inside the Cutting Room” editing workshop is Live Streaming of the class. “Although attending in-person will really give people the full experience, we wanted people who cannot attend to not miss out,” Christophe says of their decision to offer the course online: complete with practice footage, downloadable content, and a live feed of the class from the comfort of their home or office.
Prime Cinematography Workshops will continue to offer their series of cinematography workshops in the Valley, roll-out new focused workshops, and plan to add new cities to the rotation soon. Workshop details are on the website at www.primecinematography.com.
